They Expand

It's Friday September 5th 2008 and the team here at they integrated is working on a site for a very, very important client - they integrated inc. As I find myself writing content for the site I realize that it has been 11 years to the month since the conception of they integrated inc., a dream to bring a "big-city" approach to advertising to central/eastern Ontario. Since then, the company has grown in phases; from 2 people with laptops and a "virtual office", to 4 people working out of an office in an old shirt factory and now, 8 people with a pretty funky office over-looking the harbour in Belleville.

As we enter into the next phase of growth (we're hiring by the way), I thought it would be fitting to have my first official BLOG post be the launch for a series that will document our move into additional space on the second floor of our building as it will demonstrate our approach to a lot of our design challenges.

The tenant who had the space above our office never really did anything with it since the day the moved in. Grey carpet & grey walls was the design platform. Maybe they didn't want to take away from the view of the harbour? Who knows? Never-the-less, it's a blank canvas to say the least and I think the team is pumped after I shared the vision for the space with them this morning.

It's not a big space (1300 sqft) and it is sort of an awkward layout with one wall being on a 45 degree angle vanishing to almost nothing. It is however, very convenient (formerly awkward with the previous tenant) as the entrance to this space resides right inside our office. Fire-up the saws-all, let's get things started!

The vision statement: create a funky environment, that is functional, practical, inspires creativity, impresses those who see, doesn't distract from the amazing view out of 9 large windows, and makes people think, 'Am I still in Belle-vegas?'. More to come...
