That has cool packaging.. lets buy it.
Thinking back to the first year of college and sitting in class, listening to your professor going on and on about how choosing design as a career choice is going to change the way to take notice of the world, naturally we all were thinking the same thing – sure ok, sounds good. Half way through second year that same teachers asks if we saw the new signage across the street that used some horrendous excuse for a typeface, naturally we all have and it becomes the topic of the morning.
Even as a junior graphic designer, now just finishing third year, I’m noticing and looking for the design aspect of everything. It’s become a little bit of a hobby looking for great design. I’ve taken an interest in the past little while to packaging design. On a trip to the grocery store for example. I’m sure the family has grown tired of the phrase: “wow that has great packaging, lets get it.” I often find myself buying an item I really don’t need, just because the packaging is unique. Looking over rows and rows of some pretty sad design, it seems like a great find when you can pick out that one piece that sets itself apart from the shelves. A diamond in the rough.
Packaging design has become a great inspiration of mine to create good solutions in all aspects of design. Here are some websites to help get your mind flowing:
My personal favourites of the bunch:
Little Warmers:
These little guys are so cute. Design by Thirdperson, these little soup cup covers are made of a heat resistant cardboard. I love the sweater-like appearance that really conveys these soups will stay toasty warm.

Kleenex Tissue Box
I’m not really sure why these are designed like fruits but I thought it was a unique idea. I would definitely buy one if I saw them in a store.
