Quinte’s Third Tweet-Up

  • Posted by Erin Allen, on February 24, 2010

On February 18th I had the privilege of attending one of Quinte's tweet-ups. This was my first tweet-up and I'm very happy I went. Being new to the twitter world, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but luckily I had back-up in the form of friends. One was an avid tweeter who seemed to know everyone through twitter, while the other was even newer to twitter than I, and wasn’t following anyone in the room. I sat comfortably in the middle, and although I'd followed some of the people that attended, there were still several that I didn’t know.

Everything at the tweet up ran smoothly, and awkward pauses, which I thought would be abundant, where few and far between. Conversation flowed freely from what was happening in Belleville, to the Olympics, to what so-and-so tweeted. It was a nice change to have full-blown conversations with people whose communication is normally limited to 140 characters. Everyone mingled with everyone else, and that is what made the experience so great.

The tweet-up was an interesting and valuable event I that I would repeat in a heart beat.
