Friday Fix. September 7-11
This is the first post hopefully in a series that will be coming out each and every friday for the next little while. There will be no structure to these posts, basically just a brain dump of cool things and notable websites that I have come across during the week. So here goes nothing.
Today over at the Brand New blog, they have written up a post about the new identity for the 9/11 Memorial Site. I am loving the new design as well as the environmental graphics they came up with. Using such Hoefler & Frere-Jones as Gotham and Verlag, they really put this project on mark.
This is the portfolio website of my good friend Jamie Collins aka NewFoundBrand. He has some amazing design work in his portfolio, also be sure to check out his identity work which is top notch in my opinion. Currently available for freelance work, feel free to contact Jamie if you would like to bring his talent into the mix. Also, as an aside it is interesting to note that his portfolio is running on the brilliant Cargo Collective portfolio framework. If you have a chance to get a beta invite to this service, do not pass it up.
This is the portfolio website of Stefan Lucut which I find to be exceptional. Found via FormFiftyFive design blog, it is also interesting to note that Stefan is also running his portfolio on Cargo Collective.
This is a great idea. Basically it is a giant page that aggregates many popular and well known designers' twitter feeds. Hit this site up when you are looking for inspiration. It is built rather well as well if I must say. Built by a design collective called cypher13, who also have a pretty slick website. Check it out cypher13.
This is a cool new blog that regularly posts notable packaging designs, not unlike The Dieline Blog
This is a really neat idea for a community site. Odosketch, brought to you by a great company called Odopod, is an artist community site where users can sign up and create sketches right on the website. The homepage has some great featured sketches that are already finished, and they look great!
This is a newly launched site for the television series "Fringe" brought to you from Fox. Aside from LOST this is one of my favourite shows. I blogged about the main title sequence a few months back as well if you're interested in having a read. Overall I think that this website layout is pretty tight, and makes me even more stoked to watch the season 2 premiere next week!

Here are a couple of new albums that I acquired this week, that I have been bumping in the headphones while I work. I thought I would share with you.
KiD CuDi - Man On The Moon: The End of Day
Great album so far, pretty laid back hip-hop, not your average gangsta rap. If you like Kanye, you will probably like this. Check out his myspace, to preview some of his stuff.
Every Time I Die - New Junk Aesthetic
Love this band! This is their new release, and if you're into southern rock / hardcore stuff you will probably agree! Check them out on myspace.
