Our First Tweet-Up

  • Posted by Charlotte Barker, on August 7, 2009

Our Tweet-Up sign outside Capers

We ate, we drank, and we socialized in more than 140 characters.

Yesterday we hosted Quinte’s very first tweet-up. We had such a good turnout and we were able to meet a lot of really great people. The tweet-up was a nice opportunity for us and everyone who attended to meet local peeps on Twitter and to build an on and off line local social community.

We’d like to thank everyone who attended and hope to see you all again at the next one.

If you have any suggestions for the next tweet-up please leave them in the comments.

Tweet Tweet.

Quinte’s First Tweet-Up

  • Posted by Charlotte Barker, on July 31, 2009

Calling all Quinte Area Tweeps!

We’d like to invite you to Quinte’s very first Tweet-Up! This is your chance to meet fellow tweeps as real peeps.

Thursday, August 6th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Capers in Belleville.

There is a growing amount of tweeps from the Quinte and surrounding area and this will give us all the opportunity to meet in person in a cool social setting. Our friends at Capers have been nice enough to offer all tweeps 30% off appetizers and draught beer (except Stella and Guinness). We’re hoping to have a good turn out and welcome anyone and everyone to come out and join us.

We'd like to have an estimate of how many people to expect so we're asking that you rsvp to @theyinspire. We will be providing tweet-tags with your twitter handle and name on it, so please include at least your first name when you rsvp.

Capers is located at 272 Front St. in downtown Belleville.

We’re live!

  • Posted by Shane Woodward, on July 30, 2009

Actually, "they inspire live", our agency's very own radio station, has been live for a while, but we've spent the last couple of weeks trying to iron out some bandwidth related issues as well as develop a brand for our station that properly speaks to our agency's culture.

they inspire live logoWhat is they inspire live?

Simply put, it's the best streaming radio station on the web. At least we'd like to think so. They inspire live was born from an offhand conversation that involved a whole bunch of "wouldn't it be cool if" and a healthy serving of "I've always wanted to..." You see, we've always had our own sort of radio station here at the office, but right now we're opening it up and sharing with with the world.

What can you expect from they inspire live?

Kick ass music, and no BS. Period. You're going to be listening to what we listen to, and depending on what's going on at the office, that could be...

An innovative move by Hyatt Hotel Chain, but there certainly is room for improvement.

  • Posted by Shawn Patriquin, on May 26, 2009

Hyatt Hotels recently hopped on the twitter train by announcing @HyattConcierge, the first hotel company to use twitter as a dedicated channel for customer service.

With a quick tweet, guests—or anyone, for that matter—can find out if there's a good Mexican restaurant near the Grand Hyatt in Seattle, or when they should show up at the luxury outdoor fire pits at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek for s'mores. Customers can tweet all their concerns, questions or requests involving any property at any time because @HyattConcierge is staffed around the world with specially trained reservations center staff

With a getaway planned to the Park Hyatt in Toronto for my wife’s birthday I was anxious to give this a try. A few days prior I sent a quick message to @HyattConcierge and received a personalized reply within minutes. I was impressed.

The day of our stay, I sent a message requesting a...

Pimp This Bum

  • Posted by Charlotte Barker, on May 20, 2009

I recently stumbled upon a website when I typed Google wrong into the search bar. It brought me to a site called Pimp This Bum. As I was just about to click off, I noticed a video at the top of the site that looked like an actual homeless man. I scowled to the bottom of the page and read a paragraph describing that ‘Tim’ is indeed homeless and the site is set up to provide donations for him - anything from a meal and a razor to a college education, with 100% of the profit going to Tim and other homeless people.

The more I navigated around the site and the more videos I watched, I noticed that Tim’s story and the campaign itself are fairly new (launched February 17,2009) and have been getting quite a bit of publicity, such as on Rachael Ray and CNN. The campaign started by giving Tim a sign displaying the Pimp This Bum URL to hold while panhandling. The purpose was to generate...
