ABC is about to make a bold new move to integrate Twitter into traditional media with NightTline (The ‘T’ in the middle stands for Twitter), a Twitter twist on the popular news program Nightline. The program and anchors are going to be hosting a weekly online news show using Twitter for debates and questions. The show will apparently be taking on Nightline’s Face-Off model and will act as a debate between two opposing sides on an issue provided and moderated by ABCNEWS anchors.
There will be a Twitter widget that will allow viewers to join in the discussion by offering opinions and asking questions throughout the debate. Pixel touchscreen technology will be used to display and interact with the debate occurring over Twitter.
It is a great and edgy concept by ABC and it will be very interesting to see how this all pans out and just how much participation will anchor from Twitter....

You might not see reporters fleeing the courtroom to call in updates for much longer. You definitely won’t see it at Mayor O’Brien's trial. Yesterday, reporters won the right to live-blog and send instant news stories via their hand held devices during the trial of Ottawa Mayor Larry O’Brien. Mr. Justice Douglas Cunningham is the first judge to ever rule in favor of this request stating “that is the world in which we live.” However, he also said his decision would have been different if the trial were to be conducted in front of a jury.
Mr. O’Brien's charges are related to an alleged offer to a federal position enticing a political adversary to drop out of an election. Testimonies will be made by conservative officials and witnesses will be called upon from the Prime Ministers office.
It’s interesting to see that technology is affecting the media and legal system and that it is...

Microsoft has introduced an early beta of a new product called Vine, currently available for beta testing in Seattle. Vine is a location-aware social networking application planning on providing a means of communication in times of crises.
This downloadable application can be used to stay in touch with family and friends to be informed when someone needs help or a crisis happens via news and public safety sources. You will be able to send and receive alerts through e-mail, text message, or on your computer. But it can also be used for general use to keep in touch with friends and family just to check in, or to alert your team about a practice.
Although it is currently only going to be available in the United States, it is an interesting approach that might eventually catch on in Canada. Vines seems like a logical direction given that social networking sites such as Twitter have in...
