Author Evan Ratliff Is on the Lam. Locate Him and Win $5,000.
Wired magazine is running one of the coolest promotions that I have seen in a while right now. As of August 15th, Author Evan Ratliff has voluntarily gone missing off the grid. He will be gone for 30 days, and you can win $5,000 cold hard cash if you spot him and snap a picture of him. To me this is great because it ties in a recent article that Ratliff wrote about the subject of disappearing, titled "Gone forever. What does it take to really disappear?". I recommend reading this full article, it's very fascinating.
Starting August 15, I will try to stay hidden for 30 days. Not even my closest friends or my editors will know where I am. I’ll remain in the US and will be online regularly. I will continue to use social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, and I’ll make cell phone calls. I’ll generally stay in the...

Whenever I'm planning a summer vacation I always have the Burning Man festival in the back of my mind as a possible destination. Burning Man is an experiment in 'Temporary Community" hosted for a week in Nevada's Black Rock desert. It is a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. They depart one week later, having left no trace whatsoever. It's primarily one part arts festival, one part Woodstock, with or without the Peyote. This year's event runs from August 31st through to September 7th.
Burning Man always loses out to something more practical, like the cottage. But how can you not be intrigued by this warning on the official Burning Man website:
"The desert is a place worlds away from that to which most of us are accustomed, and is governed by physical laws that cannot be ignored. You are responsible for your own survival, safety, and...
A great new show coming to ABC this fall called "Cougar Town" that's right Cougar Town starring Courtney Cox. I believe every women that is over the age of 30 can relate to this show. I loved this preview, especially the first 15 seconds, when she talks about when women notice weird things happening to their bodies and we just have to learn to laugh about it and move on. So for all you Desperate Housewives fans at there, check this out!! This is brilliant!!
Alright. I've been typing this up uber quickly to get it up today as I'd promised. For those that happen to catch this entry early on, I apologize for the unedited writing. I'll try to go through it all and clean it up tonight.
So what's going on?
Well, basically I'm making up an excuse to play some tunes that I like on our shiny new "they inspire live" radio station. It's one of those holiday weekends that makes me proud to be Canadian. You know, a civic holiday, which basically translates to "WTF? We don't have any extra days off in August? That's not right." What better way to celebrate our national holiday than with a tribute to Canadian rock artists?
I'm going to be focusing on music that I listen to, or have listened to growing up, so I'll be spinning tunes mostly from 90s and 2000s. There were alot of great Canadian rock artists before the 90s, so as you listen to this...
