Looking through Leaf coloured glasses

My 2011-2012 predictions for the Blue and White.

Alright. I know Leafs fans do this every year, and every year we say "it's different this time!", but this time, I really mean it. While nobody can argue that it's been a long and terrible summer, I've personally felt the warm spark of optimism buried underneath all of the heartbreak and tragedy that's made this off-season one of the worst ever. Now I'm not talking about what has passed for optimism in the past few years, where fans get excited for a "clean slate", and comfort themselves thinking that "if only we don't screw up early we might be able to make something of it this year." Fresh starts are nice and all that, but if your optimism is entirely based around the fact that every team starts the season tied for first place, then you're probably in for another disappointing spring.

This year feels... different, somehow.

Finally!

  • Posted by Shane Woodward, on June 11, 2010

I first saw the movie trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time back in November, and right away I had a gut feeling that this would be the movie to break the very long chain of bad to absolutely horrendous video game adaptations. Since it's release, the film has received mixed reviews. For the most part, viewers have found it fun, and critics have hated it. Despite the less than stellar press, and the growing knot in my gut warning me that I was in for a let-down, my fiance and I hit the theatre last night for a light night showing, and am I ever glad we did.

I loved it!

Before we go any further, let's get a few things out on the table. First of all, you have to set the right expectations going into this movie. Are you going to see the next Academy Award winning movie of the year? No. Absolutely not. PoP (Prince of Persia) is not one of those movies, and it isn't...

One Proud Daddy: Child’s First All-Nighter.

It's funny what a parent can be proud of...

My son, Ethan, has never really been a gamer. At least not in any way that I'd define the term. Sure, he spends a good deal of his free time on his computer, and much of that playing video games, but I'd never say that it's something he's passionate about. More like something he does to pass the time when he's bored.

This weekend, after building myself a new computer last week, I gave Ethan's computer a much needed upgrade, and installed a few games on it that wouldn't run on his old machine, most notably, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age: Origins. Last night, sometime before dinner, I set everything up for him, and demoed the games. He seemed fairly interested, and soon after started into Mass Effect.

I took Tonya (my fiance) out to a movie last night, so we left Ethan, who recently turned 15, to his own devices. When we got home, he...

3D Movies, An Ever Growing Trend

  • Posted by Erin Allen, on March 8, 2010

I went to see Alice in Wonderland on the weekend. Refusing to wait for the crowds to die down in order to see what was sure to be an excellent movie. I, of course, went to see the movie in 3D and as with any 3D movie I was happy with my decision.

3D, which is becoming an exceedingly popular trend, is in my opinion worth the extra money and the slight head ache. When items are popping out of the screen at you, you can’t help but feel involved. This works well in a movie like Alice because the Underland is very interesting and a place that I'm sure many people would love to visit. Some other movies that are set to be released in 3D are, Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon, Dispeciable Me, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2, Disney's Rapunzel, and Tim Burton's Frankenweenie, that's just the tip of the ice burg. I09 has a list of 32 films to be released in 3D over...
