3D Movies, An Ever Growing Trend

  • Posted by Erin Allen, on March 8, 2010

I went to see Alice in Wonderland on the weekend. Refusing to wait for the crowds to die down in order to see what was sure to be an excellent movie. I, of course, went to see the movie in 3D and as with any 3D movie I was happy with my decision.

3D, which is becoming an exceedingly popular trend, is in my opinion worth the extra money and the slight head ache. When items are popping out of the screen at you, you can’t help but feel involved. This works well in a movie like Alice because the Underland is very interesting and a place that I'm sure many people would love to visit. Some other movies that are set to be released in 3D are, Toy Story 3, How to Train Your Dragon, Dispeciable Me, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2, Disney's Rapunzel, and Tim Burton's Frankenweenie, that's just the tip of the ice burg. I09 has a list of 32 films to be released in 3D over...

Small town Canadian boy calls out nation’s hockey team.

  • Posted by Shane Woodward, on February 26, 2010

I've been pretty hardcore during this year's olympics. In the past, I've done my best to watch key sports, mainly hockey, but this year I've been all over the olympics. Last night I had hockey up on the big-screen, while watching men's curling and arial skiing online in HD, all at the same time. I've been bleeding maple flavoured red and white this year, and my team, my country has delivered.

Last night, just as our Canadian women's hockey team brought home their third straight gold medal, I found my self embarrassed to be Canadian, and embarrassed to be a hockey fan, due to what I am calling the "douchebaggery" of the Canadian men's olympic hockey team.

CTV did a great job of covering the game, and moreover, did a great job of capturing the atmosphere of the arena last night as Canada supported their gold medalists. All of Canada that is, except the Canadian men's hockey...

Inspiring Video for Designers

  • Posted by Breanne Sinibaldi, on February 25, 2010

It is no secret to my friends and family that I'm in love with the blogging community. It always brightens my day to log onto my Google Reader and see the multitude of new updates by various creatives around the world. After going through every new update the other day and still feeling the need for more I decided to take a peak at all the "Starred" posts i've neglected to go back to.  I found a bunch of posts that included some very interesting videos.

Here are some of my favourites:

Hellmann’s - It’s Time for Real from CRUSH on Vimeo.

See more funny videos and funny pictures at CollegeHumor.

And my all time favourite is this one by professor and students in a graphic design program. Shot with a RED One, a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, a Canon EOS 40D, and a Nikon D80. All typography was made out of jell-o, potatoes, squash and other random items.

Quinte’s Third Tweet-Up

  • Posted by Erin Allen, on February 24, 2010

On February 18th I had the privilege of attending one of Quinte's tweet-ups. This was my first tweet-up and I'm very happy I went. Being new to the twitter world, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but luckily I had back-up in the form of friends. One was an avid tweeter who seemed to know everyone through twitter, while the other was even newer to twitter than I, and wasn’t following anyone in the room. I sat comfortably in the middle, and although I'd followed some of the people that attended, there were still several that I didn’t know.

Everything at the tweet up ran smoothly, and awkward pauses, which I thought would be abundant, where few and far between. Conversation flowed freely from what was happening in Belleville, to the Olympics, to what so-and-so tweeted. It was a nice change to have full-blown conversations with people whose communication is normally limited to...

Discovering a New Sound Makes our Week

  • Posted by Shawn Patriquin, on December 11, 2009

Anyone that has been to our firm or has tuned in our agency radio station knows that there is always great tunes spinning in the office. Music is a big part of our culture here and we love it when we discover a new artist that provides a unique sound. Recently we discovered two great rockabilly ones that we've been listening to all week.

Kitty, Daisy & Lewis

Kitty, Daisy & Lewis are a three-piece band comprising the teenage siblings of the Durham family. Their music is influenced heavily by R&B, swing, jump blues, country and Western, blues, Hawaiian and rock 'n' roll. They are all multi-instrumentalists playing guitar, piano, banjo, lapsteel guitar, harmonica, double bass, ukulele, drums, trombone, xylophone and accordion between them.

Having fallen in love with rockabilly and the blues as a nine-year-old in Dublin – the only kid in her class who wasn’t into...
