  • Posted by Charlotte Barker, on July 31, 2009

Calling all Quinte Area Tweeps!

We’d like to invite you to Quinte’s very first Tweet-Up! This is your chance to meet fellow tweeps as real peeps.

Thursday, August 6th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Capers in Belleville.

There is a growing amount of tweeps from the Quinte and surrounding area and this will give us all the opportunity to meet in person in a cool social setting. Our friends at Capers have been nice enough to offer all tweeps 30% off appetizers and draught beer (except Stella and Guinness). We’re hoping to have a good turn out and welcome anyone and everyone to come out and join us.

We'd like to have an estimate of how many people to expect so we're asking that you rsvp to @theyinspire. We will be providing tweet-tags with your twitter handle and name on it, so please include at least your first name when you rsvp.

Capers is located at 272 Front St. in downtown Belleville.

We’re live!

  • Posted by Shane Woodward, on July 30, 2009

Actually, "they inspire live", our agency's very own radio station, has been live for a while, but we've spent the last couple of weeks trying to iron out some bandwidth related issues as well as develop a brand for our station that properly speaks to our agency's culture.

they inspire live logoWhat is they inspire live?

Simply put, it's the best streaming radio station on the web. At least we'd like to think so. They inspire live was born from an offhand conversation that involved a whole bunch of "wouldn't it be cool if" and a healthy serving of "I've always wanted to..." You see, we've always had our own sort of radio station here at the office, but right now we're opening it up and sharing with with the world.

What can you expect from they inspire live?

Kick ass music, and no BS. Period. You're going to be listening to what we listen to, and depending on what's going on at the office, that could be...

Some thoughts for Ad Agencies entering into an AOR Relationship

Blog ImageWe once used the following analogy on a client that we turned down and we're not sure they got it: 'Entering an AOR relationship between an advertising agency & a client is a lot like getting married.' You both better love each other (in good times and bad), share the same principals, goals and values if you really want this thing to work for the long haul and with success. Like any good marriage, business relationships (maybe more so in the world of advertising) should be based on the mutual core values that make things click: Trust, respect, honesty, transparency, caring appreciation, passion and love `– because you better love what you do.

We were reminded of this recently after meeting with our newest AOR client for the first time. The first meeting is similar to a blind date, you can tell within minutes if this is...

The Brainstorm Group Promotes Advertising in an Economic Downturn

  • Posted by Charlotte Barker, on May 29, 2009

We couldn't agree more with The Brainstorm Group's decision to set an example and make a statement about advertising in an economic downturn. Today, a full page ad ran in the Globe and Mail promoting a coupon from the The Brainstorm Group for $40,000 off advertising agency fees for new clients. Chairman and CEO, Ron Telpner said they wanted to demonstrate that you can make some great noise advertising in a down market.

So many times, clients feel that the first thing they should cut from their budget in hard times is advertising, but the opposite couldn’t be more true. An economic downturn is the best time to gain market share because no one else is in the game. You’ve got to zing when your competitors zang. The Brainstorm Group has taken it upon themselves to show us that advertising is key for companies that want to emerge from the recession, stronger and more profitable.

Canada’s First Job Auction Site

  • Posted by Charlotte Barker, on May 27, 2009

What are you worth as an employee? I just read an article in The Globe and Mail about Canada’s first job auction site. As we know, the recession has made it increasingly difficult for people to find work so they have been turning to innovative and creative ways to land jobs. The newest method? On-line auctions.

A job auction is set up for employers to post job openings and employees seeking work to bid on them. This method has become increasing popular in countries around the world, but Canada had not adopted it until now.

Filip Narula and Robert Hjelmberg, a pair of university students from Sweden, got the idea after reading about a similar site in Germany. There was already a site set up in Sweden, so after noticing Canada didn’t have one in play, they jumped on the opportunity to start the site. Although they admittedly don’t know much about Canada – only being here once to...
