I was going to start my next BLOG about a more relevant TV topic for our new website (Mad Men). But then, just like just about every other Monday night at 10pm I found myself watching The Hills with my wife. I tell myself (& my wife & my friends) that I suffer through this as part of a spousal trade-off for my addiction to Entourage. But to be totally honest, I don't think I have missed an episode. Is it my need to try and hang on to my youth, the hot girls or just the cheesy scripted reality of it all? After thinking about it more, I believe it is the 'cultural-cool' factor and the pure marketing genius of it all – or it is my hate for Spencer – one or the other.
When you think about it from a marketing standpoint, it really is brilliant, a fantastic example of marketing content integration. It has become the launching pad for countless Indie bands, fashion labels (including Lauren...

You heard me. The Matrix is real, and it's much cooler than the one in the movies. In fact, the real matrix is so cool that people around the world spent more than 175 million dollars last year just to stay plugged in. Admittedly the computer generated dream world that I am talking about isn't actually called "The Matrix", but is instead referred to as "MMORPG".
If you don't know what an "MMORPG" is, don't worry. It's a geek term, like "e-mail" used to be a geek term. For now, let's just say it's the most instantly gripping, involving and demanding entertainment technology ever invented. The addiction rate appears to be about twice that of crack. It's an infection, it's a tsunami, it's a volcanic eruption. All at the same time, waiting, like a nest of plague-infested rats next to a ticking hydrogen bomb in an underwater volcano. Or, something. What I'm trying to say is, it's the...

I think everyone can probably relate to where I am going with this. There has to come a time for everyone where you finally realize that you are growing up, or "getting old", as I like to call it. You have graduated from school, you're working full time, and you're starting to find more things in common with your parents then you ever thought possible. I think all of these things play a big factor in realizing that you are maturing. I have just started to realize this in the past couple months.
For example, my girlfriend was married this summer. I have been to many weddings over the years but this was the first one that I attended where the bride was the same age as me! But that wasn't my most significant "maturing moment". That happened last weekend when my girlfriend was over to visit and brought a veggie dip with her. It was really good so I asked her where she got it...

It's Friday September 5th 2008 and the team here at they integrated is working on a site for a very, very important client - they integrated inc. As I find myself writing content for the site I realize that it has been 11 years to the month since the conception of they integrated inc., a dream to bring a "big-city" approach to advertising to central/eastern Ontario. Since then, the company has grown in phases; from 2 people with laptops and a "virtual office", to 4 people working out of an office in an old shirt factory and now, 8 people with a pretty funky office over-looking the harbour in Belleville.
As we enter into the next phase of growth (we're hiring by the way), I thought it would be fitting to have my first official BLOG post be the launch for a series that will document our move into additional space on the second floor of our building as it will demonstrate our approach...

I wonder what my Nana would have thought about "blogging". If she wanted to know what other people were doing in the world it came from the newspaper or radio, eventually the T.V. Of course she could have always caught the neighbours latest gossip through the magic of a "party" line - a novelty of telephone communication lost on today's youth. No text messages for Nana. One long ring, one short ring - not for us! Two long rings, pick it up and say hello! How did we end up at OMG R U 4RL? Of course I am aware of the cliche remember when...... But, remember when is what we are. An elaborate collaboration of who we were, who we are, what we will be. Scary isn't it?
